Alternative to Conventus

An alternative to Conventus, built around board work

Medlemsplatformen brings members, dues, and activities into one place, and adds the board's own work on top: minutes, the year wheel, and an AI rules assistant.

Conventus is a solid choice, and it can still be right to look around

Conventus is an established and widely used system that many Danish associations have relied on for years, and there are good reasons for that. So when we call ourselves an alternative, it's not to talk down a system that works. It's because associations are different, and because what's the right fit for one club needn't be the right fit for you.

We believe a switch should be made on an informed footing, not on promises that one vendor can do everything. So this page is about what Medlemsplatformen does well, and about what any association should weigh against its own needs when looking at a new system, whether that ends up being us or not.

Our real difference: the board has a system too

Most membership systems are built to keep track of members, dues, and registrations, and so do we. But a large share of running an association happens in the board, and that part is often handled in stray Word documents, email threads, and shared folders nobody really maintains.

Medlemsplatformen brings board work into the platform itself. You write board minutes with agenda and attendance, pull out decisions and tasks with an owner, and decide yourselves whether a set of minutes is internal or public to members. A year wheel gives an overview of the general assembly, deadlines, and tasks month by month, and incident reporting gives a fixed, responsible path for injuries and accidents. It's the part of association life the general membership systems rarely put front and centre, and it's where we differ honestly.

All the everyday things are here too, in one place

A board system isn't worth much if you need a second system for everything else. So Medlemsplatformen also covers what you expect from a membership system: one member register with roles and self-service, automatic dues collection and online payment, activities and booking of times and rooms, plus news and a public front page you build from ready-made blocks.

The finances aren't a loose billing module but real double-entry bookkeeping with VAT, bank reconciliation, and export to your auditor. If you want to sell clothing and gear, a web shop is included, and the money flows into the same accounts as the rest. The aim is that the board shouldn't have to pull numbers from five systems to understand how the association is doing.

An AI assistant that answers from your own bylaws

Questions about rules and bylaws often land on the board's table: are we allowed to do this, what does it actually say, when do we have to call the general assembly. Our rules assistant lets members and the board ask in plain language and get an answer built on the association's own documents, with a reference to where it's stated.

The assistant is in beta, and we're open about it: it answers from your own rule set and points to the rule it uses, so you can check the answer against the reference before you rely on it. It's meant as help to find the answer faster, not as a legal ruling.

How to get started if you want to switch

You don't have to wait for a season change to begin. A switch can be planned to fit the association's rhythm, and we help you move the association's data and members across as part of onboarding, so you don't start from a blank system.

We don't promise a button that pulls everything from Conventus across on its own, because the honest answer is that a proper migration means looking at your specific data. What we do promise is to be with you the whole way, so the transition is manageable rather than a leap into the unknown.

Frequently asked questions

Can I switch from Conventus mid-season?

Yes. Nothing technical ties you to waiting for a season change. We plan the transition around the association's rhythm, so members, dues, and activities come across without a gap in day-to-day operations.

Can you move our data and members over from Conventus?

We help you move the association's data and member details across as part of onboarding. We don't offer an automatic one-click import, because a proper migration requires us to look at your specific data, but you won't be on your own with it.

What does Medlemsplatformen do differently?

Our clearest difference is that the board gets a system too: minutes with follow-up, a year wheel, incident reporting, and an AI assistant for your rules and bylaws, on top of the everyday member register, dues, and activities.

Is Conventus a bad choice?

No. Conventus is an established and widely used system, and for many associations it works well. We recommend weighing both against your own needs, especially how much board work and finance matter to you.
