Choosing a system
How to choose the right association system
There is no single best association system. There is the one that fits what takes the most time where you are. These are the criteria we would measure on.
Why we are not crowning a winner
We sell an association system ourselves, so a ranking where we happened to come first would not be worth much. Instead, these are the criteria we think decide the choice, and you can hold any provider to them, us included.
The Danish market has several capable systems, some of them free. What is right for a football club with 800 members is rarely right for a federation or a small cultural association.
Start by measuring what actually takes time
Before looking at feature lists: write down what the board spent time on last year. Dues and reminders? Sign-ups? The accounts before the general assembly? The website nobody could edit? Or the handover when the treasurer stepped down?
Whatever tops that list is what the system has to be good at. Most bad choices happen because someone picked the longest feature list instead of their own bottleneck.
The criteria most often overlooked
Can you get your data out again? A system that makes exporting the register and accounts hard locks you in, however good it otherwise is. Is the finance side real accounting or only a collection overview an auditor cannot use? Can more than one person take over the administration?
And the practical parts: can you use your own domain, can members correct their own details, and what happens to the price as the association grows? Per-member and per-user pricing behave very differently over time.
Questions worth asking before signing
What does it cost at our current size, and at double that? Is there a lock-in, and what is the notice period? How do we get our data out if we leave? What do you help with at onboarding? Who answers when something breaks on a Sunday before a tournament?
Ask to try the system with your own data rather than a demo with tidy examples. With us you can create the association yourself and try it free for 60 days, precisely so that is possible.
Frequently asked questions
Which association system is best?
There is no single answer. It depends on whether your bottleneck is dues, activities, accounting or board work. Measure systems against your own time spent rather than feature-list length.
Are there free association systems in Denmark?
Yes, several providers have free or freemium models, and for small associations with simple needs that can be enough. Check where the limit sits and what happens when you grow past it.
What does an association system typically cost?
Prices range from free to subscriptions based on members or users. Ours depends on the number of users and is billed monthly, quarterly or annually. The full price list is on the sign-up page.
How long does switching take?
Onboarding itself is quick. What takes time is moving the data properly and bringing the board along. We suggest switching outside peak season, but nothing technical forces you to wait.
