The need: selling admission without losing the overview

Matches, parties, anniversaries, and member events often cost money to attend, and then admission has to be sold. Today many associations handle it with cash at the door, MobilePay numbers on a poster, and a doorkeeper trying to remember who has paid. It works right up until the queue gets long, the cash has to be counted, and no one knows exactly how many actually turned up.

Ticket sales is meant to solve exactly that. It isn't built yet, but it is designed to let the association sell admission to events online, take payment in advance, and check guests in on the day, so both the queue at the entrance and the count afterwards become simpler.

How ticket sales is intended to work

The plan is for you to create an event with one or more ticket types and prices, for example adult and child, member and guest, or early bird and standard. Guests buy online and pay in advance, so you know the sales before the doors open.

On the day, the intention is that you can check guests in, so you know who has arrived and who is still missing. Along the way you should be able to follow sold and remaining seats continuously, so you don't sell more tickets than there is room for.

Paid registrations you can already handle today

Even though the actual ticketing module is on the way, you aren't left without a way to charge for an event now. Paid registrations can today be handled through the web shop: create the event's admission as a product, take the payment online, and let the money flow into the association's finances like any other sale.

That covers the most important part until ticket sales is ready: that guests can pay in advance, and that you avoid handling cash at the door. When the dedicated ticketing module arrives, it is designed to add check-in and a seat overview on top of that.

Why it belongs with the rest of the association

A ticketing module could be bought as a standalone service, but then payments, attendees, and finances would again sit in separate corners. The thinking behind ticket sales in the platform is that an event connects to what the association already has: the members, the activities, and the accounts.

So ticket sales is designed to live in the same place as everything else. Payments should land in the association's finances, and an event should sit alongside the activities and trips you already have, instead of requiring yet another system to keep track of.
