A store that belongs to the association

Many clubs sell clothing, gear, and member goods, but do it on the edge of the association itself: a paper order form, a thread in a Facebook group, or an external web shop that lives its own life with no connection to the member register and finances. Then someone spends an evening gathering orders in a spreadsheet, and another evening making the money add up.

Web shop gives the association its own store inside the platform. You sell merchandise, gear, and goods to both members and guests, and the sales connect to the rest of the association instead of sitting beside it.

Control over stock and variants

An association store rarely sells one simple product. The club shirt comes in several sizes, the gear in several versions, and it needs to be clear what's in stock. You create products with variants and keep track of inventory, so you don't end up selling a size you no longer have.

That makes the store something you can safely leave open, without having to clean up over-orders afterwards. The customer sees what can actually be bought, and you see what's left.

Delivery or pickup at the club

Association goods don't always need to be shipped. Sometimes it's easiest to pick up the shirt at practice; other times delivery makes sense. So customers choose between delivery and pickup themselves when they shop.

For the club, that means you can sell to those who come by anyway, without postage and shipping, and still offer delivery to those who live farther away or aren't members. It fits the way an association actually works.

Selling to both members and guests

The store isn't off-limits to anyone but members. Parents, former players, neighbouring clubs, and supporters often want to buy a shirt or back you with a purchase, and they should be able to. You sell to both members and guests from the same store.

That makes the web shop more than an internal ordering channel. It can be a small source of income and a way to make the association visible, without your having to run a separate store somewhere else.

One set of finances

What often makes an association store cumbersome isn't the selling, but the bookkeeping afterwards. When the money lands on an external platform, it has to be dug out, reconciled, and posted by hand. In the web shop, payments flow into the same finances as the rest of the association.

That means a sale in the store isn't a stray amount you have to remember to include. It belongs to the association's overall accounts from the moment the customer pays, so the treasurer has one place to deal with instead of several.
