Video for the association

Beta

Share videos with members, from training clips to meeting recordings, played directly in the association's pages.

Video is in beta. Files are transcoded in the background after upload, and very long clips can fail along the way.

In brief

Video lets the association share recordings with members: training videos, instruction, highlights, or meeting recordings, played directly in the platform without sitting publicly on a video service.

Video belongs where members already are

Most associations have gathered a fair amount of video by now: a training clip from an instructor, the recording of the general assembly, a few highlights from the season. The hard part is rarely filming it, but sharing it without putting it out in the open on YouTube or passing around heavy files nobody can find again afterwards.

With video in Medlemsplatformen the recordings sit in the same place as the rest of the association's content and play directly on your pages. Members watch the video where they already sign in, instead of being sent off to a public video service the association doesn't control.

For training, instruction, and meetings

Video fits what an association actually records. A coach can post a technique walkthrough the team can watch again from home. An instructor can share an exercise members can train to at their own pace. And a board can keep the recording of a meeting or a general assembly, so those who couldn't attend can still follow along.

What they all have in common is that the video becomes part of the association's content rather than a loose file in a shared folder. It sits alongside what it belongs to, and can be found again when someone needs it.

Shared with the right people, not the whole internet

Much of what an association records isn't meant for the public. A meeting recording, a training clip with children, or an internal instruction belongs among members, not on an open internet where anyone can find it and search engines can index it.

That's why the videos play inside the platform rather than sitting publicly on a video service. You decide who has access, and the video doesn't share itself onward. For an association that films people, that's the difference between sharing safely and losing control of where the recording ends up.

Video is in beta: how upload works

Video is still in beta, and we want to be honest about that. When you upload a file, it is transcoded in the background so it can play reliably on both phone and computer. It usually takes a moment after upload before the video is ready, and you don't have to wait at the screen in the meantime.

Very long clips can fail during transcoding. If that happens, you'll be told, so you can upload again, perhaps a shorter clip. For the videos an association normally shares, training clips, instruction, and meeting recordings of ordinary length, it works in practice, and we are steadily making the long recordings more robust.
